The North Borneo Heritage Train (previously known as North Borneo Railway) is the last of a fleet of locomotives that have plied the tracks through Borneo since the 1900s. The Train runs 36 miles between Kota Kinabalu, the state capital of Sabah, and Papar, an agricultural town, known as the rice bowl of Sabah.
Ride on a steam diesel hybrid locomotive with a piston engine which could run on either steam from a boiler or diesel fuel. Retrace a colonial trade route through villages, countryside, tunnel, mangrove forests and rivers for spectacular views of scenery that is mostly inaccessible by tour vehicle.
Relax in the comfort of deluxe refurbished carriages on a historic steam engine. Waner around in Papar Tamu that provides authentic encounter with the rich cultural, culinary and traditional aspects of the lives of local community /communities.
