If you’re planning a trip to Sabah soon (or if you’re local and looking for something different to do), you’re in luck. The next two months are packed with events that mix food, culture, adventure, and shopping. Whether you’re the type who loves hiking mountains, tasting new dishes, or hunting for bargains, Sabah’s got you covered.
1. Mount Kinabalu International Climbathon
Kundasang | 19th October 2025

Known as the “world’s toughest mountain race,” the Climbathon is making its big return. Athletes from around the world will test their endurance on Mount Kinabalu’s steep trails. Even if you’re not racing, it’s worth coming to Kundasang to soak in the atmosphere, cheer on the runners, and enjoy the cool mountain breeze.
Local Tip: The area gets really busy – book accomodation early in Kundasang or Ranau. And don’t forget to try fresh vegetables and dairy products from Desa Dairy Farm while you’re there.
2. Little Hong Kong Food Festival 3.0
Sandakan | 17th-19th October 2025

Sandakan’s food scene is underrated, but this festival makes it shine. Expect Chinese street food, traditional snacks, seafood galore, and cultural Performances. Locals call Sandakan “Little Hong Kong,” and during the festival, you’ll see why.
Local Tip: Come hungry. And if you have time, pair your visit with a trip to Sepilok for the orangutans and sun bears.
3. Xplore Sabah Expo 2025
Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC), KK | 18th-20th October 2025

Adventure lovers, this one’s for you. Xplore Sabah brings together outdoor gear, eco-tourism packages, adventure talks, and even extreme sports demos. It’s all about showcasing Sabah as an outdoor playground.
Local Tip: Great place to pick up discounted tour packages. If you’ve been planning a white-water rafting trip, island escape, or climbing experience, this is the time to book.
4. BIG Sabah Sale 2025
